The gray console was beat up and had stuff on it, so I washed it down with soap and water real well. Why it was dry, I went over it with some steel wool to make the paint stick. I used some plastic spray paint - which works really well. It's good stuff. Lots of very light coats made a factory finish. It looks great. Plus it's black now instead of gray.

I then took the wirebrush to the seats and used hammered finish black rustoleum. It's some groovy stuff. Needless to say, the rust and Chapstick are gone - and these look great too. They will look even better once I put the new covers on them.

If you hadn't figured it out already, I really love my Jeep. Still, I DON'T love those G-A-Y super high ones. Seriously, if you have 40+ inch tires, you prolly shouldn't be driving on the road.

Again, I'm not much of a fan of the normal Jeep gear - the diamond plate, tube bumpers and stuff. I think it all looks cheesy. I am a graphic artist by day, and my tastes are pretty narrow on this. I like classic and functional. The only color Jeeps I would consider were white or black, white being my preference.

Now that you understand some of my thoughts on wanting a classic jeep look, you will understand (maybe, cause this is NOT normal) that I really like and want to keep the stock rims.

Yeah. I do. You can't change my mind.

But, they need fixed up. I yanked them off, at least 3 of them anyway, and took the drill and wirebrush to them. After a nice workout cleaning them, I applied rusty metal primer. Nice stuff. This is going to sit for at least 24 hours as per instructions and then the final color will go on.

3 wheels you ask? Well, Jeepin has one of them mashed at the center hole and it's stuck. I pounded on it with a full size sledgehammer and no luck so far. I soaked it with penetrating oil and will try again tomorrow. After that, it goes to the shop. I need the new tires mounted anyway.

While I had the tires off, I also started undercoating the Jeep starting at the front.

Page 7 has putting some of it all back in...
